While Chinese medicine theory, in general, is not equipped to deal with cancer on a biochemical, microscopic, or cellular level, pulse diagnosis can make important contributions about observations of the energetic phenomena associated with it. In this article, I discuss cancer from the perspective of Dong Han pulse diagnosis, a Korean system. Dong Han pulse diagnosis employs a sophisticated view of 5 Phases in combination with meridian therapy. It is based on and expands upon the concepts of the Chinese medical classics—especially the Suwen, Nan Jing and Mai Jing. In its interpretations, it also draws on many ideas from Western medicine as its creator, Jiang Jing, was an expert in both fields.
